Touting itself as one of the largest historical districts in the state, Salida was
also recognized nationally as one of the "ten best places to live." Like the
other communities in the upper Arkansas River Valley, Salida enjoys a peaceful
location at the base of the most spectacular mountains in the state, with the
exciting Arkansas River rushing through it.
Salida is the county seat of Chaffee County, and is the largest of all the major
towns in the upper Arkansas Valley, offering many benefits for both the tourist and
