The big reason to move to a rural community is to improve your lifestyle... to get back
to doing those things that really matter and that really bring you happiness and pleasure
during your recreational time. Recreation programs include classes I crafts,
drama, fishing, dancing, yoga, softball, kayaking, swimming... well, we just can't list
EVERYTHING there is to do here in this peaceful valley, but here's the "short" list:
- Camping
- Cross Country Skiing - best trails you've been on with pure Colorado powder!
- Fishing - in addition to the many lakes in the high country loaded with native
trout, the Arkansas River produces some of the biggest and best in the state
- Four Wheeling - miles of designated trails
- Golf - 9 and 18 hole courses in both Lake and Chaffee County (some open year 'round)
- Hiking (some of the best hiking trails in the State - plus fifteen 14,000+ peaks)
- Hot Springs - year 'round - indoor and outdoor
- Hunting (trophy elk hunting, as well as deer, antelope, small game, etc.)
- Mountain Biking (some of the most scenic mountain biking trails in the State)
- Rafting (over 300,000 tourists enjoy whitewater rafting at it's very best)
- Skiing/Snowboarding (Ski Cooper and Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area - loaded with
typical Colorado powder!)
- Snowmobiling
- Tennis - outdoor courts throughout
Many locally organized clubs help organize many exciting activities (sadly there are just
too many to list, but here's just a part of the long, long list):

- Bingo - played every Friday at the America Legion Post

- Collegiate Peaks Taekwon-Do - open classes for karate students
- Collegiate Peaks Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited

- Valley Children's Choir & Theatre - Chaffee County-wide performing choir for students from second grade through junior high
